Singer-songwriter Kaylee Rose shares her vulnerability in the poignant ballad, “Love Makes You Blind,” out now. While the song tells the story of how her boyfriend ignores all the things she views as imperfections, “Love Makes You Blind” actually was inspired after the couple got into a fight.

“That night while lying in bed, I thought to myself, ‘Thank God love makes you blind, because that’s why he puts up with me,’” Rose tells Sounds Like Nashville. “The next day, I had a write scheduled with Adam Wheeler and Curt Gibbs and brought that line and concept to them. We ended up writing the song so quickly, and the original demo that Curt produced is actually the same recording that is released everywhere.”

“Love Makes You Blind” has a seductive beat and distinct throwback feel and Rose, a Florida native, says she wanted the song to be as honest and real as possible for listeners. “Even though the song was inspired by my experiences, I wanted to make sure it had a romantic and vulnerable tone that could relate to all couples,” she says.

The video for “Love Makes You Blind,” which Sounds Like Nashville premieres above, was filmed and directed by Logen Christopher from Stormlight Pictures. Shot at the Johnny Cash Museum and Johnny Cash Bar in Nashville, “Love Makes You Blind” features Rose at the forefront while photos and videos of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash are displayed in the background as she walks through the museum.

“Johnny and June have one of the most iconic love stories of all time,” Rose says. “I worked at the Johnny Cash Museum when I first moved to town and always found their relationship to be so intriguing. They went through so many obstacles together, but never gave up on each other. They have always been an example of unconditional love.”

Rose credits museum owners Bill and Shannon Miller, both longtime friends and supporters of her music, for allowing her to film at both venues. She says the pair knew the vision she was trying to create while tributing Johnny and June’s love story and were on board to let her film at their establishments.

“Well, if love makes you blind, I hope you never ever open up your eyes,” Rose sings on the tune, which showcases the singer-songwriter’s honest and vulnerable storytelling. She says “Love Makes You Blind” is just a taste of what’s to come as she promises to show the other side of her writing style that’s less serious and more upbeat.

“I hope listeners know that it is okay to have flaws and imperfections, and that there will be someone out there that will love you for you, and will love you unconditionally,” she adds.
