Keith Urban has revealed the title of his upcoming studio album project, announcing The Speed of Now Part 1 in a quirky, comedic video message.

Narrating a laugh-out-loud clip that finds Urban struggling to pass the time away from his fans — making too many pots of coffee, playing chess against himself and pondering the finer details of a legal pad, among other activities — the superstar eventually gets to his big news. He explains that his own life has been rushing by for so long that he sometimes wished it would slow down, and almost a year ago, he came up with an album title that captured that feeling. But now that a pandemic has brought daily life to a virtual standstill, it feels even more perfect for the job.

“In October 2019 this album title came to me,” Urban explains. “I liked it because I felt like life was flying by so fast. But music [for me] has always been the place where it slows down and doesn’t even exist. I would never have imagined that, in 2020, this album title would take on a whole new meaning … and still feel so relevant.”

Urban goes on to say he will release The Speed of Now Part 1 on September 18, and previews snippets of five new tracks. Keep your ears perked for an uptempo blaster titled “Tumbleweed,” the previously released romantic pop of “Polaroid,” an emotional ballad titled “Change Your Mind,” the vibey mid-tempo “Wait” and a high flying arena rocker by the name of “Superman.” (And hidden in the clip, there’s an asterisk next to the title of “Change Your Mind” – what could that mean? One wonders…)

The new set will also presumably include Urban’s Top 5 hit from 2019, “We Were,” and his bluesy current single, “God Whispered Your Name,” but there’s no official word on whether or not fans can expect a “Part 2″ of the project to drop later.
