Keith Urban Rolls Into 2021 ACM Awards with ‘Tumbleweed’

Keith Urban took a three-minute break from hosting the 2021 ACM Awards with his performance of the rockin’, banjo-laced track, “Tumbleweed.”

Blazing through the track’s first-ever live performance, Urban pushed himself (and the track’s tempo) to the limit, delivering a high energy country rocker with a full-throttle pulse. Singing from a psychedelic stage covered in video screens, the country superstar traded alternative-rock feeling guitar licks with his full band, dodging strobe lights as he sang of living life in the wind — just like a tumbleweed. It was without doubt one of the night’s most energized moments, and as always, filled with Urban’s signature magnetism.

The high-energy track is one of 16 on Urban’s The Speed of Now Part 1 record. Co-written by the Cadillac Three’s Jaren Johnston and Neil Mason, with James McNair, the song has Urban singing “Hey, Miss Tumbleweed / I believe two tumbleweeds is better than one / Everybody needs a buddy when they’re on the run / Hey, Miss Tumbleweed / Let’s ride the breeze / Town to town, just kickin’ up dust / Make a little trouble, might make a little love.”

The 2021 ACM Awards, hosted by Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton, broadcast live on Sunday, April 18 (8:00-11:00 PM, live ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network and will be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
