There’s a new host in town – Keith Urban will be taking over the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards.

Scheduled for April 5 in Las Vegas, Urban will host the annual celebration that honors country music’s biggest superstars and brightest rising talent. News of the new host broke early Thursday morning via a digital announcement on the ACM’s social media pages.

In a video posted to Twitter, Urban announced the first song, “God Whispered Your Name,” of a “whole bunch of music coming out.” He then added that he’d be hosting the upcoming awards ceremony. “So looking forward to it,” he concluded.

“We are thrilled to have our reigning Entertainer of the Year as the centerpiece of our 55th ACM Awards ceremony. Keith epitomizes greatness in our industry, is beloved by fans and fellow artists, and I can’t think of a better representative to be the face of our Awards show and to help usher in a new era at the Academy,” said Damon Whiteside, CEO of the Academy of Country Music, in a press release.

Most recently, Reba McEntire served as host of the ACM Awards, before teaming up with Carrie Underwood and Dolly Parton for the 2019 CMA Awards last November. Other former hosts include Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, among others.

The nominations for the telecast were also revealed this morning (2/27).

The 55th annual ACM Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 5 on CBS from 8-11 p.m. EST.
