The music world is mourning the loss of The Eagles’ founding member and guitarist Glenn Frey.

Frey passed away at age 67 following complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.

The legendary band shared the news of his passing through a statement on their Facebook.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016,” they wrote. “Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.”

“The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery,” the band added. “Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.”

Joining in their sorrow was “Break On Me” singer Keith Urban, who took to Facebook to share a video of himself singing The Eagles’ hit “Take It Easy” on piano.

“So deeply saddened tonight to hear of Glenn Frey’s passing. Way too young…. Blessings to all of his family and the Eagles! – KU,” he wrote.
