Keith Urban didn’t happen to waste any time as he releases the music video for his latest single, “Wasted Time,” from his upcoming album, ripCORD.
Following the major success off his last two hits, “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” and “Break On Me,” Urban has seen “Wasted Time” fly up the charts faster than past songs in his career. With its upbeat tempo and a mixture of synthesized pop banjo beats, the second single off his anticipated album marks the kick off to the fun warmer months ahead.
The video highlights the best parts of summer: driving through the country with the windows down, dancing with friends in floral sundresses and those hot, wild nights where nobody has a care in the world. Capturing the essence of the track, director John Urbano creates a montage of the black-and-white meets color memories one always wants when the sunshine is glowing.
“Wasted Time” was written by Urban and fellow songwriters John Wells and James Abrahart. Inspiration didn’t take long to catch on once an upbeat melody and a guitar riff was introduced to the session.
“J suggested the title, and before we knew it, we were talking about growing up and all the things you do, no matter where you are in the world, and the song just took off from there,” said Urban.
Coinciding with the release of his new video, Urban also announced Canadian tour dates scheduled for the month of September. Dallas Smith and Maren Morris will join Urban for the ride that begins September 10 in Vancouver, BC.
“Our Canadian shows have always been off the hook giant parties,” said Urban. “From the very first shows I ever did, there was a synergy with the audience that’s only grown stronger over the years. I can’t wait to bring the ripCORD World Tour to everyone this year.”
