Keith Urban Turns the Tables on ‘We Were’ at CMA Awards
What a perfect performance....

Country icon Keith Urban turned the tables on the typical awards show performance at the 53rd annual CMA Awards, delivering “We Were” with his back to the all-star crowd.
Standing alone on the stage with just a guitar, everything was backwards when Urban started into his latest hit. Sporting a black leather jacket and looking completely at ease, he was facing the back of the stage, with the camera revealing the audience behind him.
“This song is about a first love, fake IDs, leather jackets on the back of a Harley,” Urban said as in introduction. “Maybe sneaking into a club to hear a band play a little ‘Pour Some Sugar on Me,’ thinking it would last and not realizing it would fade like a stamp on the back of a hand.”
With no band to help him out, Urban delivered “We Were” completely alone with just an acoustic guitar — but his legendary skill was more than enough to captivate the whole Bridgestone Arena. The stage he stood on eventually spun around to a more traditional position, revealing a backdrop of stars and the rising sun … and a spirit lifting sense of romantic maturity.
