Kellie Pickler has always been known for her bright and outgoing personality. She’s a true “people person” in every sense, but living through a pandemic has put a damper on that sunny spirit.

Speaking with PopCulture.com for a recent interview, the actress and singer explained how she’s been using her extra time at home — fixing up the house, gardening and catching up on long-neglected projects. And that’s all well and good, Pickler says, but there are some things about a socially-distant life she just can’t get used to. The former Dancing With the Stars champ says she can’t live without hugging.

“I hope we don’t get to a place where hugging is absolutely forbidden because I’m a hugger, and I think touch is so important,” Pickler said. “Like, when you shake someone’s hand, or you give them a hug, or a high-five or whatever, there’s just that human contact, it’s so important.”

Pickler goes on to say she and husband Kyle Jacobs are staying positive despite the lack hugs, and she opens up about a brand new project — one that’s not even gardening related. Pickler’s teaming back up with Hallmark after starring in a pair of Christmas movies, this time alongside Brad Paisley for a line of hilarious greeting cards. She and Paisley helped introduce the lighthearted cards with the Shoebox challenge, and the line can be purchased at Walmart.

“You know, from the movies to the Shoebox collection, they make you feel good,” Pickler said. “It makes you laugh — and I think we could all use a good laugh right now.”
