Kelly Clarkson hails from Texas and has flirted with the sounds of country when she appeared on a Jason Aldean duet a few years back, but she may converge with the genre some more after teasing about working with a favorite Nashville songwriter.

Shane McAnally has become a household name in Music City for writing some of the biggest hits in the past decade. His friends and colleagues who have featured some of his lyrics on their albums include Kacey Musgraves, Sam Hunt, Old Dominion among others, just to name a few.

His work even led him to earn five nominations at the upcoming 53rd Annual ACM Awards, with two looks in the Song of the Year category alone for separate tracks he worked on last year.

Since Clarkson keeps her country connection alive even more so by calling Nashville home most of the year, a fan went on social media to ask about working with McAnally in the very near future. Giving him some props for his songwriting success, the American Idol alum dropped a subtle bomb that the two could be collaboration on some country music coming very soon.

@shanemcanally has already written some number one songs for me but y’all just haven’t heard them #bestdamnwriterinthebusiness #futurecountryjamz ,” she replied through Twitter.

It can be said that Clarkson did just release a brand new record, but there’s always potential for new singles on the horizon. In the meantime, Clarkson will continue on as a coach on season 14 of NBC’s The Voice alongside country star Blake Shelton and others.

While McAnally continues on his No. 1 run as a songwriter, fans of Clarkson can check out her most recent album, Meaning of Life, on Spotify now.
