Kelsea Ballerini kept her followers updated Monday night (8/17) as she and her husband Morgan Evans tried to remove an unwelcome visitor that somehow made it into their bedroom.

“Just as @Morgan_Evans & I got all cozy in bed, a BAT flew out of SOMEWHERE in the BEDROOM and now we can’t get him OUT and although he’s little and cute he’s STILL HERE,” she tweeted.

In her next update, Ballerini posted a video of Evans trying to coax the bat off of the curtain in their room as she looked on just outside the door. When Evans moved the curtain, the bat swooped down, and Kelsea promptly screamed and closed the door to the bedroom. “This has gone on for an HOUR,” she wrote.

As the saga continued, Ballerini went through various stages of how she felt about the bat — first calling him cute and then regretting that after he flew behind the mantle and wouldn’t come out. But, she later decided the bat probably needed some water.

“I just put out water for the bat because 1) I want to coax him out of his hiding spot and 2) I feel SAD THAT HES HAD TO FLY SO AIMLESSLY FOR AN HOUR AND HES PROBABLY PARCHED I am unstable,” she wrote.

She even had time to throw a few puns into he updates, writing, “the bat- BATTER LUCK NEXT TIME” and “…still in comBAT.” And she also responded to fans’ comments as this was going on, saying that the bat must have flown in when she had the door open for some fresh air and that she had learned her lesson.

Close to an hour after her first update, Ballerini posted a video of Evans stealthily trying to catch the bat in a giant net while she couldn’t help but laugh at the situation. She made it into a challenge, telling fans that the best caption for the video wins a Zoom call with her. In her last update, more than an hour after her first tweet, Ballerini shared that they hadn’t made much progress in the bat-catching mission, and that it was a stalemate.

“Update- still in the room, bat is tired, we are tired, it’s a standoff. WHO WILL BREAK. me. That’s who,” she wrote.
