Christmas is as cheery a time as any for families around the world. For Kelsea Ballerini, the holiday holds some extra special magic close to her heart. During the 2016 holiday season, Ballerini’s now-husband, fellow singer/songwriter Morgan Evans dropped to one knee to ask for her hand in marriage. And while proposals may come once in a lifetime, it seems as if Ballerini will be asked for many more years to come.
“Well last Christmas I got engaged. So me and him are making the tradition that every Christmas morning, I’m going to make pancakes, and he’s going to propose,” the Tennessee native explained during a recent chat with Sounds Like Nashville.
The couple shared the news of their engagement on Christmas Day with a series of sweet snaps. Showing off her gorgeous new ring, Ballerini wrote “This morning, 9 months and 13 days later, he got down on one knee in the kitchen while I was burning pancakes and asked me to marry him,” Ballerini wrote. “Loving him has been the greatest gift of my life. And now I get to do it for life. #HECALLEDDIBS”
Evans chimed in by adding, “When you know, you know … she’s perfect. #ultimatedibs.”
Ballerini and Evans wed on Saturday, December 2 on the beach in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. They plan to celebrate Christmas before embarking on a honeymoon in Bora Bora.
