Kelsea Ballerini Excited Over Her Hometown Headlining Show
The night will be an emotional one for Ballerini, who spent many years seeing her heroes sell out that same exact venue.
In just a few short weeks, Kelsea Ballerini will head out on her very first headlining tour, The First Time Tour. Among the schedules dates for the rising star is a stop in her hometown of Knoxville, TN at the Tennessee Theater. The night will be an emotional one for Ballerini, who spent many years seeing her heroes sell out that same exact venue.
“I haven’t played Knoxville yet and that’s on purpose because A, I know I’m going to cry and I try to prolong that as much as I can and I wanted to wait until I could sell out the Tennessee Theater because I grew up going to see Little Big Town, Zac Brown Band and all of them in that theater,” Ballerini recalled at a recent No.1 party for “Peter Pan.” “My dad actually had an apartment above it and sometimes I could sneak out into the theater and I would write songs and stuff on the stage. It’s a really special place for me, so whenever we decided to do a headlining tour, I was like ‘okay, let’s try to do it.’ And we sold it out in a couple weeks. I’m so excited.”
With the launch of the tour just weeks away and the Knoxville show on her mind, Ballerini and her team have been working on hard on designing a show that her fans will love.
“I’ve always grown up going to big arena shows and I’ve always loved bells and whistles, but I’ve also always loved when the artist steps out with their guitar and has a moment with the crowd,” she explained. “I think for me, every artist that I’ve gotten to open up for, I’ve learned how they do that and how they come on the stage and interact. I’m trying to take elements of all of that and incorporate it into planning a fun tour.”
