As a lover of the beach and all things tropical, Kenny Chesney wanted to capture the good vibes on his latest project, Cosmic Hallelujah. In order to obtain the right sound, he went to the one place that’s known for its laidback nature: California.

The country star has been a part-time resident of the West Coast for some time now, but he decided to bring his work home with him to the hills of Malibu while recording his current album. The relaxing lifestyle Chesney started to make his routine translated over into the tracks while in the recording studio out there.

“As I was out there in Southern California, I would go to the studio every now and then, it was just a great way to make music. I think that I was able to spend a lot of time…you know, in the mornings, I would go and spend a lot of time on the beach. I would paddle board even though the water was freezing. It was a great way to open up the creative process for me, it was just a different energy,” he said recently.

With his radio hit with pop singer Pink, “Setting the World on Fire,” reaching No.1 on the country charts, its dreamy feel matches the spontaneous romantic lyrics and makes it one of many that reflect the West Coast’s chill atmosphere.

Fans can check out the track, as well as the rest of the new album, on streaming services now and can pick up a copy from digital music retailers.
