Kenny Chesney will release the music video for his new single, “Knowing You,” on Friday, March 12, and on Monday, the singer treated fans to a teaser clip from the video. The clip finds Chesney walking on a stone jetty reaching out over the ocean from a lighthouse on a fog-laden day in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The video then transitions to the Virgin Islands, showing the silhouette of a woman on a boat for just a moment followed by a view of a sailboat on the water. The clip then goes back to Chesney walking though the fog before ending with an aerial view of the lighthouse by the shore. The scenes seem to personify the lost love story of “Knowing You,” and Chesney’s voiceover throughout the 45 second teaser clip only amplifies that notion.

“Not everything is meant to last,” says Chesney. “You don’t think about that when it’s perfect. And when it’s over, there’s a huge hole, but there’s also a pair of wings. Knowing you, wherever you are, I know you’re happy, you’re flying, and free. And I’m here still grateful. Grateful for knowing you.”

The teaser clip can be found on YouTube, which is where the full video will premiere on Friday at 10am CT. Chesney also posted the clip on social media, sharing more about why he loves the song and what the music video means to him.

“While it’s a simple country song, ‘Knowing You’ is the kind of song that can hold anyone,” wrote Chesney. “However the other person faded from your life, you’re always better for what was shared. And wherever they are, you know they’re living their best life, shining and doing the same thing for someone else… and that’s pretty rich. I wanted to make a video where you could see it, even feel that connection and how it holds you going forward. To me, the people who touch your life in profound ways are everything, so this song and this video are for them.”
