Kenny Chesney Recalls 4th Of July Celebrations From His Youth
With 4th of July right around the corner, Kenny Chesney took some time to reflect on how he used to spend the holiday back when he was a kid. As it turns out, the more things change for Kenny, the more they really do stay the same.
“You know what? I was usually playin’ little-league baseball on the Fourth of July,” Kenny said. “You know, I was big into sports, and the summertime in east Tennessee consisted of playin’ baseball, and that’s what I did on the Fourth of July. And they had a big fireworks display after all the games, and I was usually, you know, tryin’ to win the affection of some little girl over at the concession stand. And, you know (laughs), things don’t change very much!”
Kenny will have a few days off from his “Goin’ Coastal” tour to celebrate the 4th of July this year. After playing Pittsburgh, PA’s Heinz field on July 2, Kenny will enjoy the long holiday weekend before heading to Colorado’s famed Red Rocks amphitheatre for two consecutive nights beginning on July 6.
