Kenny Wins Big At Billboard Touring Awards

The Billboard Touring Awards are held each year to honor to the top touring acts in all genres of music. 2008’s awards ceremony was held last week, and Kenny Chesney took home two big awards. Kenny’s “Poets & Pirates Tour” was noted as the Top Package for shows that included such acts as Luke Bryan, LeAnn Rimes, Gary Allan, Big & Rich, Brooks & Dunn, Sammy Hagar, and Keith Urban before Kenny took the stage to headline. Kenny’s show was also voted tops by the fans in the 1st ever Eventful Fan’s Choice Award.

Although Kenny has repeatedly stated that the awards aren’t what drives him, he admits it is nice to get some confirmation from the industry. He says “You know it really is about our show. Even when we’re not out there, plugging in and playing, I’m thinking about… how to make it bigger, make it more, create a better set, work in more songs… The lights, the staging, the sound, the people we take out on tour with us. It is all about trying to give the fans the kind of show I used to hope to see, so these are the sort of awards that remind me — beyond the screaming and cheering from the crowds – that we’re creating the thing we’re hoping we’re able to. And any time the fans let you know, well, that’s always special.”
