Kristian Bush Shares “You Light Me Up” Lyric Video

Kristian Bush

Sugarland’s Kristian Bush is sharing the second single from his solo album, Southern Gravity. “You Light Me Up” is a departure of the random act of kindness tale, “Trailer Hitch,” returning the singer-songwriter to the age old topic of love.

“When you are loved by someone, it changes you forever,” Kristian says of the tune. “I decided to write a song to celebrate that.”

Kristian co-wrote the tune with Jesse Rice, one of the co-writers of Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise.” When CountryMusicIsLove sat down with Kristian to chat about the album, he opened up about how important his co-writers were to the process.

What Kristian Bush Learned By Making Southern Gravity:

“I’ve been really lucky on this album to write with some of the greatest living writers I could find,” he told CMIL. “Every thing that I absorbed tells me that the story matters the most. The song matters even more than the singer. When you hear something new on the radio — you don’t know anything about it — you go, ‘I don’t know who that is, but I love that song,’ the reason you’re saying that is because it made you feel something. It’s speaking to you as if it’s your life.”
