Kylie Morgan Brings It All Home in Final Episode of ‘Hometown Heartland’

Newcomer Kylie Morgan has been giving fans a look into her country-star origin story with the video series, Hometown Heartland, and the final episode premieres on Sounds Like Nashville today (September 23).

Filmed like a guided tour around Morgan’s hometown of Newcastle, Oklahoma, the series traces her steps from an all-American upbringing to the global stage, with seven episodes full of small-town charm and big-city dreams. In previous clips, Morgan has shared a look into her family and childhood friends, and stories like how she got her first guitar at 12 (plus the incredible truth that it survived a tornado, even though much of the house it was in did not.) Over time, the 25-year-old singer-songwriter has revealed the life lessons that put her on the verge of stardom and country’s top artists-to-watch lists — but also created her shining personality — and it all comes together in Episode Seven.

Featuring an interview with her loving dad, the video shares some of the quirks that make Morgan a unique artist, and what she intends to do with it. She’s a 10-year veteran of gymnastics who’s still the clumsiest person she knows, and a bad driver with a talented mechanic for a father, she explains, and she just wants to inspire others to embrace what sets them apart, too.

“What I love is writing about things that make me quirky and imperfect, and writing ‘Break Things’ was that exactly,” she says. “I wanted it to be kind of an anthem to everyone that can feel imperfect, and rock it.”

Featuring a rock solid beat, impossible-to-ignore vocals and a theme celebrating those who make life interesting, Morgan’s autobiographical “Break Things” single is out now. She’s currently in the studio making more music, working on her debut album with producers Shane McAnally and Ben Johnson.
