Lady Antebellum Hit Number One With ‘What If I Never Get Over You’

Lady Antebellum are celebrating their return to Number One with “What If I Never Get Over You,” their first country radio chart topper in five years and a Gold-certified hit.

Often described as the thematic sequel to the career-defining hit, “Need You Now,” “What If I Never Get Over You” follows the Top 5 debut of the trio’s Ocean album, and marks their first Number One since signing with Big Machine Records in 2018. It’s also their 10th chart topper in total, and the band’s Dave Haywood said it helped the band turn an important corner.

“The moment we heard ‘What If I Never Get Over You’ we knew it was going to be an integral piece of Ocean,” Haywood remarked. “It has been a long time since we released a mid-temp longing duet like this which is so much of who we are and how we started. It sort of felt like coming home and we are grateful to the team behind us and country radio for believing in the song as much as we did from the start.”

Band member Charles Kelley echoed that sentiment on his personal Instagram account, posting a lengthy thank you to fans and industry pros who never gave up on the band — even 13 years after the debut of “Love Don’t Live Here.” We “captured the magic we’d been searching for ever since #needyounow,” Kelley wrote.

Looking ahead, Lady A’s recently announced Oceans 2020 Tour gets underway May 21 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with Jake Owen and Maddie & Tae in support. Their heart wrenching new single “What I’m Leaving For” is out now.
