They received GRAMMY nominations and honors from both the CMA and ACM, but Lady Antebellum will add a Tony nomination under their belt for their work on Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical.

The country trio contributed to the original list of songs performed throughout the play with a track called “Chop to the Top.” The scene arises when lead character Spongebob joins his friend, Sandy, to climb up a steep mountain with one another. It, along with other songs from the musical, landed a nod in the Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre category.

All of the famous faces that gave their efforts to Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical also received the nomination honors themselves by collectively earning the same respects in that category. Alongside Lady Antebellum for the Spongebob nomination includes Sara Bareilles, John Legend, Plain White T’s T.I., Panic! at the Disco and many more.

Not only is Lady A proud of their new accomplishment, but they also can’t wait to show their little ones about the Broadway play when they take them up to the Big Apple to see the colorful musical come to life.

“Those musicals must take forever to put together, because we were like, ‘Well, I guess it fell through,’ and all of a sudden, years later it resurfaced that it’s coming out. So, I can’t wait to see it. It’ll be fun to take the kids,” Charles Kelley said of the stage production to NASH Prep.

The 72nd Annual Tony Awards will air live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on June 10 on the CBS network.
