Lauren Alaina To Release Book, ‘Getting Good at Being You’

Singer and songwriter Lauren Alaina is exploring another form of the written word by releasing her first book, Getting Good at Being You: Learning To Love Who God Made You To Be, on November 2. The book, which seemingly refers to her single “Getting Good” with its title, will chronicle Alaina’s rise to fame from American Idol to now and share the lessons she has learned along the way.

“Be sure to BOOK your calendars for November 2nd,” Alaina announced on social media. “I’m releasing my WRITE of passage, Getting Good At Being You. Can’t wait for you to read it. It’s available for preorder online everywhere books are sold and on shelves in November. Thank you times a million to @trishayearwood for writing the foreword.”

Among these lessons are how the singer learned to fight self-doubt and feel “at home in her own skin.” The book will share anecdotes and stories from Alaina’s own life and will encourage readers to find their own way to “dream big and run toward who you are.” The book will also feature behind-the-scenes photos from Alaina’s life and career. Country star Trisha Yearwood wrote a foreword for the book — the two singers collaborated on a second version of “Getting Good” in June 2020.

With the release of her book, Lauren Alaina joins a long list of other country-stars-turned-authors. Carrie Underwood released her book, Find Your Path: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, and Get Strong with the Fit52 Life, in March 2020, and books from Brett Young, Jimmie Allen and Willie Nelson will be released this summer. Kelsea Ballerini also recently announced the release of her poetry book, Feel Your Way Through, out Nov. 16.
