Lauren Alaina Kicks-Off Busy Album Release Week with ‘GMA’ Performance of ‘Georgia Peaches’
“‘Georgia Peaches’ is one of my favorites on the album, just because of the fact that I am from Georgia,” Lauren tells CountryMusicIsLove. “It talks about how young girls like to flirt and how we like to dance and hang out, and just have fun in the summertime.”
“Georgia Peaches” was written by another Georgia girl, singer-songwriter Mallary Hope. Lauren and Mallary are both part of the Georgia Country Gospel Music Association and first crossed paths at an awards ceremony for the group last year. When Lauren heard Mallary sing for the first time, she knew she was hearing something special.
“I remember looking at my mom and saying ‘Wow, she’s gonna be a huge star,'” Lauren recalls. “Then ‘Georgia Peaches’ was sent to me as a possibility for one of the songs on my album and then I found out that she wrote it so that was really cool that we have something in common and now her song is the first song on my album. I just really love the song. I think because she’s from a town so close to where I live, and she’s a young girl, we kind of have the same mentality. It just really worked. I feel like that song — I could’ve written that song — it’s true to who I am.”
Although she’s busy promoting the new album, Lauren tells us that she’ll find time to squeeze in a little fun this week!
“I know that we are going to a haunted house while we’re in New York. I’ve been wanting to go to one so we’ll probably have a haunted house party.”
The work will quickly pick back up for Lauren as this week she’s also scheduled to appear on “Live! With Regis & Kelly” (Oct 13), “The Ellen Degeneres Show” (Oct 21), “E! News,” “Entertainment Tonight/The Insider”, CNN, GOOD DAY LA, CMT Insider (Oct 8), GAC “On The Streets” (Oct 11) and GAC “Top 20 Countdown” (Oct 14).
