It’s no surprise that a budding female country singer would look to an industry veteran as a cornerstone of what she one day hopes to be. For Lauren Alaina, that hero is Carrie Underwood and over the last few months, she’s gotten to share the stage with her fellow American Idol alumni on several occasions.

“I probably look up to her more than anyone else, as far as what she’s done in her career and what she stands for,” Lauren shared with Sounds Like Nashville recently. “For her to support me and let me open up for her, I’ve gotten to do quite a few shows with her now…She’s just so sweet. She tweeted me and said that I was a tough act to follow. I’m going to tell you, that made me feel pretty baller. I’ve never felt so cool. I was pumped about that. I was like, a kid on Christmas day. I was jumping.”

The Christmas morning excitement never seems to go away for the “Road Less Traveled” singer, who chronicles each time she gets to spend time with Underwood.  But what is it about the Oklahoma native that Alaina admires so deeply?

“I just think she’s done a really great job overall as far as she treats everybody kindly and she’s beautiful and doesn’t know it,” said Alaina. “She’s like, such an amazing singer, and really takes care of herself, her voice, and her body. I just think she’s just really inspiring. I look up to her in that way because she’s worked hard for a really long time and she’s proof that working hard pays off. I adore her. I look up to her in every way pretty much.”

Hopefully Alaina will have many more chances to perform with her idol in the future. In the meantime, she is hitting the road with Alan Jackson for the latter part of the year. Her current single “Road Less Traveled” is currently in the Top 40 at country radio.
