Lauren Alaina Introduces New Boyfriend John Crist on ‘Bobby Bones Show’
The hit maker has been quietly seeing Christian comic John Crist since February.
Five months after announcing the end of her marriage engagement, “Ladies in the ’90s” singer Lauren Alaina has a new man in her life, as revealed on The Bobby Bones Show Wednesday morning (May 15th).
Appearing on the nationally syndicated show to chat about her fun-loving new single, the “Road Less Traveled” hit maker dropped the news that she’s been dating Christian comedian John Crist since February.
The two apparently hit it off after Alaina responded to one of Crist’s Instagram posts, which sent the comic rushing to Wikipedia to figure out who she was. “It was the wrong move,” he joked after Bones invited him to join the conversation, with Alaina explaining that he responded to her with “I too grew up performing in church in Georgia.”
Eventually the pair got to know one another, and have since been spotted in public and appearing in each other’s social media posts. But it’s in private where their relationship really shines – even though they have both had some awkward moments with family. Alaina revealed that Crist’s mother still calls her his “friend” and that Crist hasn’t brought a girlfriend home in 10 years, while Crist admitted the age difference between he and Alaina has created an interesting dynamic with her mother.
“I’m 35, her mom is 45, and she’s 24 … so I’m closer to her mom’s age than her,” he joked. “When she and her mom are arguing about stuff I’m literally in the middle like, ‘Actually your mom makes some good points.’”
Alaina also admitted that she was nervous about making the relationship public, but said she’s been “constantly laughing” since she and Crist began dating.
The singer had been with ex-fiancé Alex Hopkins for six years before the couple announced their mutual decision to separate in a joint statement. Alaina’s new single “Ladies in the ’90s” has just cracked the Top 40 at country radio and she’ll be on tour with festival and fair dates across the U.S., Canada and the U.K. all summer.
