LeAnn Rimes has earned a lot of honors throughout her music career, including two GRAMMYs, but soon she will be recognized for the work she does in the LGBTQ community by the Human Rights Campaign.

The HRC recently announced that Rimes will be the recipient of the Ally for Equality Award at the Nashville Equality Dinner, which will be held at the end of March. As an avid advocate for the rights group, it marks a strong significance for Rimes herself as well as in the country community and their acceptance toward the LGBTQ community.

“LeAnn Rimes is boldly using her influence in the music world to empower people to accept and be their true selves,” said Blake Brockway, co-chair of the HRC Nashville Equality Dinner, in a press release. “An outspoken advocate for LGBTQ equality, she is also making a difference in the lives of countless young people across the country by standing up for LGBTQ youth and speaking out against bullying. We are thrilled to welcome LeAnn Rimes to the HRC Nashville Equality Dinner and honor her with the HRC Ally for Equality Award.”

Rimes has been an active and devoted member of many charitable organizations throughout her career, including National Psoriasis Foundation, DAV (Disabled American Veterans), The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, Stand Up For Kids and The Trevor Project. She also has used her famous platform to speak out whenever she could about the issues she was dedicated to, including raising awareness about LGBTQ individuals.

“As a performer, we have a voice. A lot of kids listen. I’ve been bullied as a child, and I can somewhat relate. I just come from my heart when I support LGBT youth. I know how that feels to be judged and put down. So from the deepest part of my heart, I truly, truly support them,” she said during an interview back in 2014.

The Nashville Equality Dinner will be held at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel on March 25, and tickets are available for purchase to the event. Proceeds will be given to raise funds for the fight to bring light to the LGBTQ community and their equality within society.
