Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus Time Travel in ‘Old Town Road’ Music Video

Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus are a couple of rootin tootin outlaw robbers in the music video for their “Old Town Road” remix. The video, which premiered Friday morning (5/17) stars the dynamic duo as they make a quick horseback getaway with a bag full of cash in the year 1889.

Evading the town sheriff, played by none other than comedian Chris Rock, the two find themselves in another bind as the property owner of the land they seek refuge shoots at them with a rifle. Lil Nas X makes another fast escape, diving into a mine on the property, except the hole isn’t hiding gold or oil beneath the ground.

As he dives into his refuge, he falls Alice in Wonderland style into a whole new time, entering Old Town Road 2019. The appearance of this out of place cowboy leaves residents of the are dumbfounded, but intrigued by the new guest.

Eventually, Cyrus catches up with his partner in the modern era and the two take over a BINGO hall, turning it into an old school line dancing venue as the song continues.

Lil Nas X and “Old Town Road” quickly made headlines as it was ripped from the country charts for not being “country enough.” The overwhelming demand for the track lifted it to No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart where it remains for the sixth week. Since its release, it’s accumulated more than one billion streams worldwide and sold more than four million units in the United States.
