Little Big Town closed out the 2020 CMT Awards with an energetic performance of their song “Wine, Beer, Whiskey.” This year’s performances took place from various locations around Middle Tennessee, and Little Big Town performed from the mouth of the Ruskin Cave in Dickson.
The performance opened on the foursome standing in the cave as a dramatic trumpet intro kicked off the song. The group then started in on the tune from their Nightfall album while a wide camera angle showed a unique display. High above the band on the ceiling of the cave, lit up animations moved around as they sang. These animations changed throughout the performance, from wine glasses and whiskey bottles, to animations of people drinking alcohol, to images of a giant moon. The cave also featured other lights and decorations.
The group stood spread out in the cave as their band played behind them. The trumpet accompaniment from the beginning also continued throughout the song, adding some flair to the song. The group then ended the song with their signature harmonies.
Little Big Town were nominated for Group Video of the Year at the CMT Awards for their “Sugar Coat” video. They were also nominated for Video of the Year before the category was narrowed down to Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and Tanya Tucker after fan voting.
The 2020 CMT Music Awards air Wednesday, October 21st at 8:00PM ET/7:00PM CT on CMT, MTV, MTV2, Logo, Paramount Network, Pop and TV Land.
