Closing out the night with a bang, Little Big Town brought their pop-country sound to the stage with their new producer and friend, Pharrell, during their performance at the 2016 CMT Music Awards.

The unexpected collaboration between the country band and music mogul made some sweet, sweet music as Little Big Town sang one of their new tracks off their upcoming albumWanderlust. Pharrell got down playing his instruments (cowbell, anyone) as LBT moved their way around the stage. Dancers in all white accompanied the performance to jam alongside the country quartet.

Little Big Town’s new project with co-producer Pharrell is a step far away from their typical country roots. They decided to branch out of the genre they call home to try something new for their catalogue. While the end result won’t be heard by fans until June 10, Little Big Town is excited for this next step in their career.

“It’s fun to be spontaneous and put it out there to the fans, because we want to, and not to overthink it, but just because it has brought us a lot of joy, and we think it will for them as well,” Karen Fairchild said to Billboard. So why not? We’re going with our gut and putting it out there. It’s just music, you know?”

Little Big Town took home the trophy for Group/Duo Video of the Year. The buckle was their first-ever CMT Music Award as they accepted the award for their smash single, “Girl Crush.”
