Little Big Town Goes Hollywood for ‘Over Drinking’ Video
Michelle Monaghan stars in the throwback delight.
Little Big Town have gone Hollywood for their new single’s official music video, casting Michelle Monaghan in the clip for “Over Drinking.”
Directed by brother-sister duo Stephen and Alexa Kinigopoulos and starring the Mission Impossible actress, the grainy clip is a cinematic throwback to ’70s honky tonk scene – taking inspiration from movies like Urban Cowboy.Big cowboy hats, line dancing and a mechanical bull are all involved, as Monaghan plays a plucky bar back saving up to escape her dreary town. Only the bar’s cruel, controlling owner stands in her way — but like the song says, Monaghan is “over drinking, over you.”
“I’m a country gal at heart and I can’t believe I got to make a video with one of my favorite country music bands of all time!!” Monaghan wrote on Instagram. “I love you @littlebigtown and I love love LOVE this song!”
Written by Jesse Frasure, Cary Barlowe, Hillary Lindsey, Ashley Gorley, and Steph Jones, the woozy “Over Drinking” features a swaying country beat and as usual, stellar four-part harmonies. It’s part of the acclaimed foursome’s ninth studio album, Nightfall, (set for release January 17), and the vocal group will kick off their Nightfall Tour of intimate theaters with Caitlyn Smith January 16 at New York’s Carnegie Hall.
