Country duo LOCASH are making the most of their time off the road. With no concert touring likely until the COVID-19 pandemic ends, Preston Brust and Chris Lucas are working on their musical brotherhood instead — and bringing the good vibes.

Speaking with RADIO.COM on Coop’s Rockin’ Country in a recent interview, the “I Love This Life” hit makers opened up about where their partnership stands… now that they’re not forced to live together. Things are solid and they’re getting lots of much needed time with their families, the guys say, and they’re also writing tons of new music. But it’s all got one thing in common.

“We don’t want to be right on the nose of the pandemic or talk about those kinds of issues,” Brust explains. “We want to bring smiles to everybody’s faces. We want to be those guys that bring the energy and the feel-good to the radio station and to the ears of all the listeners. Anytime we capture that feeling, it’s a jammer.”

Brust and Lucas have put their noses to the grindstone in that pursuit. They’ve been writing new music and perfecting the art of the Zoom co-write, working extensively with close friends like Chris Janson. Soon fans will hear the results when LOCASH releases a brand new collaboration, but the duo won’t reveal anything about the mysterious new track — except its name.

“You figure out who the artist is, it’s real tough,” teases Lucas. “The song is called ‘Beach Boys.'”

Though laughs and engaging stories, the “I Know Somebody” stars go on to explain how being apart has strengthened their bond, saying they’re almost like an “old married couple” at this point. In fact, they would never consider solo careers, and also tell the stories behind their “One Big Country Song” hit and smile-making current, “Beers to Catch Up On.”
