Love and Theft ‘Thrilled’ to Take On ‘Lost Wages’ This Weekend

ACM Vocal Duo of the Year nominee Love and Theft will kick-off ACM Weekend in Las Vegas with a performance at the Fremont Street Experience tonight. Love and Theft’s Eric Gunderson and Stephen Barker Liles say they’re excited to take part in the festivities.

“We’re thrilled to be goin’ out to Las Vegas — or lost wages, as they like to call it,” Gunderson shares. “We’re playin’ the Fremont Street Experience with Luke Bryan and a couple other artists, so we’re really excited to get out there and put on a rockin’ show and have a good time with our fans.”

“They’ve created a big experience out there, especially Vegas, “adds Liles. “I mean, it’s not hard to get people to come to Vegas, so if you’ve got stuff goin’ on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I mean, it just creates a huge thing, almost like a little mini-festival for the weekend.”

In addition to their performance at the Fremont Street Experience, Love and Theft is looking forward to rubbing elbows with country music’s finest throughout the weekend.

“I totally watch everything,” admits Liles. “I’m ADD anyway, so I’m just always looking at everything, but yeah, there’s always people that are gonna be like, ‘Oh, my gosh, they’re here. That’s cool!’”

“We got to sit behind Kris Kristofferson a couple years ago, so that was pretty cool,” Gunderson explains. “And Barbara Mandrell was sittin’ right next to him, so that was pretty sweet.”

“People like that — when you’re sittin’ behind someone like Kris Kristofferson, it’s hard not to be like, ‘Oh, my gosh, like, that’s Kris Kristofferson,’” Liles says. “That’s a big deal, so…especially for us as songwriters. We love him.”

As for their Vocal Duo of the Year nomination, Stephen says he and Eric are “thrilled” to have received a nod.

“What a great blessing and an honor for people to recognize…your peers to recognize you,” he says. “I think it’s nice that we haven’t been forgotten, ’cause, you know, for a little while we were out of the loop.”

Love and Theft is definitely not “out of the loop” any longer. Their new single, “Angel Eyes” is racing up the charts and they recently announced plans to release a new album on June 5.
