“What he told me is actually there is no monologue. Just go backstage and have like six drinks,” the “Somewhere One A Beach” singer said of Bryan’s advice. “Freestyle and go.”

The 51st Academy of Country Music Awards are just two days away and there’s plenty of preparation is going on… or so we thought!

This morning (4/1), Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley gathered with Sounds Like Nashville and members of the media to discuss their upcoming stint as co-hosts and how they are preparing for “Country Music’s Party of the Year.”

“What he told me is actually there is no monologue. Just go backstage and have like six drinks,” the “Somewhere One A Beach” singer said of Bryan’s advice. “Freestyle and go.”

Much like Bentley, Bryan is taking a light hearted approach to hosting. “I was telling Dierks yesterday ‘cause late into the day, we hadn’t eaten, and somebody gave us a fireball whiskey shot. I spent an hour where I did not answer any question, technically, really serious. But I said ‘Dierks, imagine three years of that with Blake,” he explained.

In (almost) all seriousness, the two’s job is of a high priority to them. “Going into the show, my first and foremost priority is host the show great,” Luke added. “Also, we made a new rule if we’re co-hosting together, we consider it a co-win. So if he wins Male Vocalist, it’s a co-win.”

The 51st Academy Of Country Music Awards, co-hosted by Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley, will be broadcast live from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Sunday, April 3 at 8:00PM live ET/delayed PT on the CBS Television Network.
