Luke Bryan Has No.2 Album on Billboard 200, No.1 Album on Top Country Albums Chart

As predicted, Luke Bryan has the No.2 album on the Billboard 200 and the No.1 album on the Top Country Albums Chart this week. Bryan’s third studio album, tailgates & tanlines, sold more than 145,296 copies in its debut week, giving the “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” singer his highest charting album ever. The album is now the second best selling country album of 2011, second only to Brad Paisley’s This Is Country Music. Additionally, the album’s lead single and Top 5 smash, “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)” has sold over 1 million downloads and is his best-selling single to date.

“I’m very proud of this album, and to have fans connect with the music in this way is exciting and really humbling,” says Bryan. “When I was writing and recording this project, I wanted to make an album which made people forget about all the other things in their lives that might stress them out and just have fun! And to have this kind of response from my fans makes me feel like that goal was accomplished!”

Sales of tailgates & tanlines well surpassed predictions made last week. Insiders had anticipated the album would sell 115,000 copies. It’s safe to say Bryan’s star power was widely underestimated!

Fans can catch Luke on the road this fall on his first headlining tour. “CMT On Tour: Luke Bryan Tailgates & Tanlines” is set to kick off September 15 in Huntington, West Virginia.
