Luke Bryan and Caroline Boyer fell in love after a chance meeting in a bar near Georgia Southern University. The pair said “I do” in December of 2006, long before Bryan became a bonafide Country music superstar.

Fast forward a few years and the couple welcomed their first child, Thomas Boyer “Bo” in 2008 and added to their family in 2010 with the addition of Tatum Christopher “Tate.”

As time marches on, and Luke’s star power continues to rise, their marriage has remained strong. And earlier this month, Luke and Caroline celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary, something that the Georgia native himself finds hard to believe.

“We look back at what has happened in ten years and we just kind of shake our head and we’re like ‘gosh, it’s like we’ve lived a lifetime of emotions in 10 years.’ It’s pretty remarkable in the fact that we still truly enjoy each other and we love what our lives have become and we love each other,” Bryan recently told Sounds Like Nashville and other media outlets.

So what’s his secret to a successful, happy marriage?

“I think that evolves every year. Your first year of marriage is a cake walk and then you throw a couple kids into the mix and then you throw some more kids into the mix and then you throw a successful country music career and then you gotta throw medication in the mix… nah, I’m playing,” he joked. But in all seriousness, he added, “I think it’s the core stuff… the communication and really, really focusing on time with one another and making sure that time is well spent and you actually talk out some stuff.”

The Georgia native also made sure to throw in a tidbit for couples to avoid any issues…

“Don’t build… good lord, we had a barn getting built, a guest house, a main house and renovations and I was like Lord. Don’t do that. Go find a house you like and move in it,” he concluded with a laugh.

Bryan celebrated his tenth anniversary with a well-deserved break as he recently wrapped his wildly successful Kill The Lights Tour. Fans can catch him back in action in January at his 2017 Crash My Playa in Riviera Maya, Mexico. He’ll also pick his Kill The Lights Tour back up in 2017 beginning in Huntington, WV on Feb. 16.
