It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since Luke Bryan took country music by storm with his Doin’ My Thing breakout album, but that watershed release came out way back in 2009. Now the superstar is reissuing the whole thing on vinyl to celebrate the milestone — adding a pair of bonus tracks for good measure.
Doin’ My Thing wasn’t Bryan’s first album, and it didn’t include his first hit song, but it did cement his status as a top-billed headliner. The set featured the first three of a nearly unbroken string of chart toppers, “Do I,” “Rain Is a Good Thing” and “Someone Else Calling You Baby,” setting Bryan on a collision course with “Country Girl (Shake It for Me)” and helping shift the whole genre toward its “bro country” moment. In the ensuing decade, Bryan’s done everything there is to do — including winning Entertainer of the Year from CMA and ACM (twice for both), headlining stadiums 35 times and even becoming a TV star on American Idol.
Set for release October 4, Doin’ My Thing Deluxe Edition will serve as a look back at those early days, presenting all 11 of the original tracks in the warm audio glow only found on actual vinyl. The special additions “Ya’ll Can Have This Town” and “Favorite Flowers” will be included, and each standard copy will come on black vinyl. But for all you super collectors out there, a limited edition translucent clear vinyl version is also available, with pre-orders underway now.
