The countdown to the 2020 CMT Music Awards ended with Luke Combs’ “1,2 Many” on Wednesday night (October 21), as the hit maker kicked off the show with the hook “five, four, three, two, one too many.”

Taking over a section of Nashville’s Bicentennial park for the heart-pounding show opener, Combs turned his burly North Carolina vocals up to 10, sounding none the worse for wear after being off the road all summer. He rolled on through the hit until reaching its bridge, when a pair of all-star guests appeared from side stage. Strutting out with a beer in one hand for Combs to shotgun, Brooks & Dunn’s Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn joined their host to finish the song off, adding a classic bit of ’90s country to the new-school hit in the process.

Combs first teamed up with the iconic country duo for their Reboot album after covering “Brand New Man.” They took the tune to CMT Crossroads, earning the collab a nomination for CMT Performance of the Year.

The 2020 CMT Music Awards air Wednesday, October 21st at 8:00PM ET/7:00PM CT on CMT, MTV, MTV2, Logo, Paramount Network, Pop and TV Land.
