Luke Combs’ Eric Church Duet ‘Does to Me’ Named New Single

Luke Combs can add another milestone to the lyrics of his duet with superstar Eric Chruch, since “Does to Me” has officially become the breakout talent’s next radio single.

Standing tall and filled with quiet pride about achievements which might not make CNN, but are nonetheless personally meaningful, the chest-thumping track marks Combs’ first collaboration with perhaps the biggest inspiration on his career. Both natives of North Carolina, Combs grew up idolizing Church, and now they match vocals on a track which will be heard all across the country. But if that wasn’t enough, Combs says the song means even more to him since its message really resonated with his hero.

“The whole sentiment on the song was there’s nothing wrong with being proud of things that people think are insignificant,” Combs told Sounds Like Nashville and others in November. “Up until I started doing this, I hadn’t done anything really in my life that I think anybody would think is really cool or great. There was this thing where I’m like, ‘there are little things that to everyone else may seem super insignificant, but they’re things that I’m really proud of.’ … I feel like sometimes in today’s society, especially with social media, if you’re not winning the gold medal at the Olympics, then you’re not a good runner – that’s the mindset. If you don’t win the gold medal, then you’re not doing the right thing, and I just think there was something about that he gravitated towards.”

“So say I’m a middle of the road / Not much to show / Underachievin’ average Joe / But I’m a hell of a lover / A damn good brother / And I wear this heart on my sleeve / That might not mean much to you / But it does to me,” he sings in the chorus, using that burly baritone to powerful effect.

Co-written by Combs, Ray Fulcher and Tyler Reeve, “Does to Me” appears on Combs’ What You See Is What You Get album, and marks the follow up to his seventh straight Gold or Platinum Number One, “Even Though I’m Leaving.” Combs What You See Is What You Get Tour kicks off February 7 in Columbia, Missouri, with Ashley McBryde supporting.
