Luke Combs continued his streak of awards-show wins Wednesday night (October 14) at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, taking home three trophies and delivering a passionate performance.

The night’s most honored country artist, Combs was selected for wins in the Top Country Artist, Top Male Country Artist and Top Country Album categories, snagging the latter trophy for What You See Is What You Get. But the burly hit maker also matched his shining victories with a polished performance, taking the stage for a classy rendition of “Better Together.”

Dressed up in suit and sporting a fresh hair cut, the country star delivered his tune backed only by a piano, serving to highlight the song’s tender message. Combs even turned his booming vocal down a notch, ultimately creating a touching tribute to things that are greater than the sum of their parts.

The 2020 Billboard Music Awards were hosted by Kelly Clarkson, and filmed live in an empty Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Along with Luke Combs, the night’s country winners included Maren Morris (Top Female Country Artist), Dan + Shay (Top Country Duo/Group, Top Country Song — “10,000 Hours” with Justin Bieber), George Strait (Top Country Tour) and Garth Brooks (Icon Award). Kane Brown also performed at the event.
