Luke Combs is a bonafide breakout star in country music, and while that comes with a lot of perks, it also makes some things a whole lot harder. Take, for example, wedding planning, which Combs and his fiancée have yet to get started on despite being engaged for about six months.

“We’re just crazy busy. Especially this year,” Combs told People Magazine on the red carpet of this year’s iHeartCountry Festival in Austin, Texas. “We just haven’t had any time to sit back and be home for more than three or four days. And it’s just a really overwhelming process, doing what we do.”

The 29-year-old proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Nicole Hocking, last fall in the kitchen of their home. But since then he’s mostly been on the road or in the recording studio, so the couple have not picked a venue – or even set a date for the ceremony. And even if they did have the time, Combs says his newfound fame makes it hard to keep the process private.

“Everything that you do is scrutinized or put in the public light, so it can be like: How do we do this?” he says. “I don’t like the word ‘celebrity wedding,’ but how do you get a venue? Me and her would want to go look at the venue and make sure we like it. How do you go there and make sure that people working there aren’t going to say, ‘Hey, these people are getting married here?’”

Not to worry, though. Combs says it will all come together in the end. He and Hocking will just have to wait a little while longer to send out the invitations.

“We’ve got some time off later this year, for about six weeks,” he explains. “So I’m sure we’ll get into it then and get some things done.”

Combs just released his rowdy new single, “Beer Never Broke My Heart,” which follows the impressive No.1 Success of each of his first five singles. He’s currently headlining his Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour, with tickets going fast and dates scheduled through December 13th in Nashville.
