Maddie & Tae took the No. 1 spot on both the Country Airplay and Billboard charts this week with their latest single, “Die From A Broken Heart.” The song has also been certified Platinum by the RIAA. This is the first No. 1 for the duo since they made a splash with their debut single, “Girl In A Country Song,” released in 2014. The duo shared the news on Sunday night (8/16) with a photo of the chart, writing, “There are no words. Just leaky eyes and a grateful hearts. Praise God and His beautiful plan. ” On Monday (8/17), they shared photos of the two of them celebrating the achievement with some champagne.

“Ain’t no broken hearts up in here,” they wrote. “Thank you to our AMAZING team, country radio & our beautiful fans for making this possible.”

While the women are certainly over the moon about the accomplishment, they say they weren’t necessarily expecting that the reaction to the song would be so strong.

“We didn’t even realize that song was gonna have the life that it is having,” says the duo’s Maddie Marlow. “It excites me. I can’t even tell you how much it excites me to hear our fans relate to this because it’s so our story and so real and true of what we’ve been through.”

Maddie & Tae have also been getting well-deserved congratulations from their fellow artists on social media. Carrie Underwood, who took the duo on her Cry Pretty Tour 360 in 2019, tweeted her excitement, writing, “A HUGE congratulations, sweet sisters!!! You deserve this and more! I couldn’t be happier for or more proud of you! Love you!!!”

Mickey Guyton sent them love on social media while also sharing her excitement for the many recent accomplishments by female country artists. “Congratulations to two beautiful souls! Thank you country radio! Another win for women! This is all so so encouraging! Keep em coming,” she wrote.

Other country artists congratulating them included Cam, Tenille Arts, and Adam Hambrick. In Cam’s tweet, the singer called them “Two of the best in country music,” and Arts retweeted the good news, celebrating “when good things happen to good people.” Hambrick also retweeted the photo of the chart, writing, “Leaky eyes, grateful hearts, can’t lose. CONGRATS to my wonderful friends.”
