Country duo Maddie & Tae are celebrating a moment they’ve been waiting 53 agonizing days for. Taylor Kerr and her husband Josh have brought their daughter home from the hospital.

Born about three months premature on January 17, the couple’s newborn Leighton Grace has finally been released from a NICU in Nashville, and is now home with mom and dad.

“After 53 days in the NICU our sweet Leighton Grace Kerr came home today. We have been blown away by all of the support and can’t thank you enough for praying her home,” the couple wrote on Instagram. “We were also blessed with so many amazing NICU nurses and staff along the way 🙏 // PS the blanket was taken off of her right after the picture was taken #safesleep💜

The heartbreaking saga began when Kerr went in for a routine checkup 24 weeks into her pregnancy, and was immediately admitted to the hospital. The couple then welcomed Leighton to the world as 2022 began, posting a few photos of the baby’s tiny feet. She was born weighing just 2 lbs. 5 oz.

Now, after a months long stay and the hard work of hospital staff — plus the support of Maddie & Tae’s fans — the family can finally start a new life. Just before Leighton came home, duo member Maddie Font spoke with John & Tammy in the Morning on 103.7 KSON (San Diego), and explained how difficult the ordeal has been on Taylor and Josh.

“After four months of absolute hell, she is coming home,” Maddie said. “It’s just been rough. My best friend’s been in the hospital for months, and she didn’t get to bring her baby home. It’s been really, really rough.”

Meanwhile, the band was right in the middle of a new EP release when everything happened. Through The Madness, Vol. 1 came out January 28, and the band was supposed to headline the CMT Next Women of Country tour, which has been postponed until Taylor is ready.

“We put out an [EP] in January, and obviously I had to do it by myself because Tae was in the hospital,” Maddie explained. “It’s called Through The Madness, Vol. 1 and I accidentally manifested some crazy madness naming the album that. And so, it’s wild listening to the new album before all of this. And now after, it makes me even more emotional…”

Maddie & Tae’s current single is “The Woman You Got.”
