Maren Morris performed her latest single “To Hell And Back” at the 2020 CMT Awards on Wednesday, October 21. The performances for the awards show are taking place from various locations all over Middle Tennessee, and Morris’ performance took place from inside a cabin in Ashland City, TN. The simple performance reflected the sentimental aspect of the song, as she sang the tune while playing acoustic guitar. One band member was present for the performance, sitting next to her and also playing guitar and providing harmony. The acoustic version of the song allowed Morris’ voice to soar and the heartfelt lyrics to truly stand out.

Morris’ performance was introduced by Brandi Carlile, who is her band partner in their group, The Highwomen. Carlile shared that she first connected to Morris by writing her letter, and they’ve been friends ever since.

Morris is nominated for Female Video of the Year for her video for her hit single, “The Bones,” which features clips of her and husband, Ryan Hurd. Other performers at the awards show include Kelsea Ballerini and Halsey, Dan + Shay, Hardy, and more.

The 2020 CMT Music Awards air Wednesday, October 21st at 8:00PM ET/7:00PM CT on CMT, MTV, MTV2, Logo, Paramount Network, Pop and TV Land.
