The country singer landed the deal of a lifetime to model with top-name agency, Wilhelmina Models. Known as the company that gave way to other celebrity clients like Nicki Minaj and Shawn Mendes, Morris marks the first country star to receive a contract in the modeling world.
“This is one of the most exciting things for me personally just because I’ve always loved fashion and I’ve loved pushing the envelope and I just feel like taking it to the next level with Wilhelmina. For me to be their first country music signing of the agency is incredible. Bridging that fashion and country music gap is such an amazing step forward for them and our genre. And I think it will certainly bring country music and its artists into the conversation with the high-fashion world,” Morris told People of her new business deal.
While Morris got her start by writing hit songs for her critically acclaimed debut album, Hero, she also knows a thing or two about fashion as seen from her edgy and boundary-breaking outfits she dons on and off stage. Always hoping to extend the lines of fashion within the country music world, Morris sees her partnership with Wilhelmina as a solid support for her daring style.
“I mean, I’m five-foot-one and I’ve got short brunette hair—I’m not the typical country-looking starlet,” Morris told the publication. “But I think that’s what gravitates my fans to me and my music. I definitely have an edge to what I say in my songs and it translates visually as well to my personal style.”
Morris will come out in her first Wilhelmina-approved look just in time for the 51st Annual CMA Awards, which she admitted the reveal will be “really fun.” She’s set to perform with pop singer Niall Horan during the broadcast as one of the few star-studded collaborations planned for the evening.
Fans can see what Morris will rock after notching her modeling contact during the CMA Awards, which air live on Wednesday, November 8, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
