It’s been a big year for Maren Morris and even bigger now as she is the winner of the CMA Award for New Artist of the Year!

Morris has exploded into the country music format with their huge year of accomplishments, including the release of her well-received debut album, Hero. This accolade goes to an artist making a breakthrough in the genre and bringing a new voice to the game in country music.

“Y’all, I can’t win this award after performing. I’m gonna fall apart! Okay, I’m sorry. So this is so crazy, so crazy. I have amazing seats tonight. This is incredible. So last year, I sat across the street at a bar and watched the show. I never thought as a songwriter I’d be standing here today. Thank y’all so much for voting for me. My songwriting community in Nashville, you gave me the courage to do this. Thank you,” Morris said emotionally while accepting the award.

Other artists nominated within the category were Kelsea Ballerini, Brothers Osborne, Old Dominion and Cole Swindell.

The 50th Annual CMA Awards are hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley. See everything that went down during tonight’s show HERE.
