One of the hardest negotiations that every newlywed couple faces is combining their individual tastes into a cohesive living environment. Thankfully for Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd, they didn’t deal with the stress of creating an inviting backyard because they partnered with the Wayfair Registry to make the garden of their dreams.
Going into the project with similar tastes, Hurd and Morris decided to register for a modern-meets-country theme with bold patterned rugs and cozy rocking chairs. They even utilized the idea of outdoor living area, by incorporating some comfy white couches and a rocky fire pit to keep warm when the Nashville weather cools down for the season.
The pair opted for neutral shades of whites, grays and blacks, making sure one person’s style didn’t outshine the other for the perfect decorating compromise.
“With our interior style, we didn’t want it too feel too feminine or too masculine. It needs to sit right in the middle and have a touch of rock and roll. Wayfair is such a user-friendly site with thousands of pieces to choose from with a simple click. We definitely got all our needs in one place for the backyard which saves so much hassle when you’re trying to get a major project finished,” Morris said in an interview about the space.
Although Morris enjoys the twinkle of their string lights, Hurd really can’t wait to take advantage of that fire pit when friends and family want to stop by for a low-key bonfire kickback.
“I love the fire pit just because it adds another space to hang, and I love our new lounge chair on our back deck,” Hurd explained. “I usually wake up before Maren and it’s an amazing space to drink coffee and make a phone call before the rest of our day gets moving.”
At the end of the design process though, Hurd and Morris fell in love with laid-back yet trendy look of the yard, and can’t wait to show it off to all who drop in for a visit at their first home as husband and wife.
“We actually agree on a lot when it comes to style. The space needs to feel lived in and not too fancy or stuffy. Lots of pillows and throw blankets make any living space feel like it’s broken in. We also like to have fun with it. We even have a disco ball spinning in our foyer! I like to call our taste a mix of California Country and Rock and Roll glam,” Morris said.
The couple will enjoy their last few weeks of free time in their outdoor space, before Morris heads out on tour for the summer and Hurd continues to promote “Diamonds and Twine” out now.
