Although Maren Morris will forever remain loyal to her country music roots, she continues to ride the wave of pop success by performing her hit, “The Middle,” with Zedd and Grey on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Rocking longer locks and a skin-tight midi dress, Morris commanded the stage while taping the daytime talk show with her collaborators providing the soundtrack behind her. The rasp from the original recording may not have been there, but her powerful riffs still let Morris do more during her energetic performance.

Not missing her opportunity, Morris also snuck away a second following their performance to say hi to the host and thank her for inviting them onto set for the day.

It wasn’t until the Billboard Music Awards that the team brought the track to live on stage for television, but they smashed their time at the ceremony as well, with artists in the audience getting up to dance and sing along to every word of the EDM-inspired number.

With all the attention that “The Middle” and Morris gained throughout the past few months, some may question the singer’s intentions for album No. 2 on the way. The Texas singer can reassure, though, that she always incorporated elements of other genres, including pop, into her work and country will always stay close to her artistic spirit.

“I don’t think it was too much of a stretch to be a part of this song as a feature and I love Zedd and you just listen to ten seconds of the song and you’re like, ‘This is a bop.’ You want to dance. I don’t ever try to be like, ‘Let’s write a pop song today.’ I just kinda let the chips fall and sometimes it feels more pop and sometimes it’s like straight up traditional country songs, sometimes it’s R&B,” she said to Sounds Like Nashville previously.

Morris will soon hit the road with Niall Horan on his Flicker World Tour this summer. Information about the tour can be seen on her website.
