Maren Morris already shattered records when she soared up the Top 40 and Dance/Electronic charts for her collaboration with Zedd on “The Middle.” Now the two, plus Grey, are bringing the song to life in Viva Las Vegas at this year’s Billboard Music Awards.
Joining a loaded line-up of artists performing at the ceremony, including Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Janet Jackson and many more, Morris announced the news all throughout her social media and sounded quite excited to hang out in Sin City with her musical peers for this once-in-a-lifetime performance.
“BAY-BUH! We’re pulling out the stops with this one. This Sunday night! #TheMiddle_BBMAs ✨✨✨,” she wrote on Instagram.
When the collaboration opportunity came about, Morris was actually the 12th candidate that the producers tested out for the track. Once they found her voice to sound the most intriguing compared to other pop stars considered originally, the country star knew she wanted to be a part of such a special project.
“Zedd was so great to work with and so easy-going, it felt like we’d been working together for years,” Morris said to People. “The sound is reflective of my many influences as an artist – a little bit country, little pop, little R&B, relatable, emotional and catchy as hell.”
The 2018 Billboard Music Awards air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 20, at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
