For Maren Morris, it doesn’t seem too much to ask to stop fighting and just be in her EDM collaboration with Zedd and Grey called “The Middle.”

Although the crossover brings out the pop side in Morris, she doesn’t lose sight of her powerful and raspy vocals as she commands her love to settle down with her rather than string along another disagreement. Once the bass drop hits, so does Morris’ extraordinary voice overtaking the electronic-influenced beats and their bumping reverberation.

The lead-up for “The Middle” didn’t last too long, but Morris admitted on social media that the collaboration process involved a bit of hang time in Nashville where she immediately hopped on board the project. Expanding her career horizons in search of her sophomore album direction, working with Zedd seemed to entice the country superstar enough to test the waters and make a Top 40-worthy tune.

“When @Zedd comes to Nashville to record your vocal, you race there. So proud to be apart of this jam. The Middle is out everywhere, now! @greymusic ,” she tweeted out just following the song’s release.

Morris has always straddled the blurred lines of genre standing, mixing country with sounds from pop, rock and R&B in her debut release. She also lent her voice to another pop song with soon-to-be tour mate Niall Horan called “Seeing Blind,” in which the two made the live debut of the track at the 51st Annual CMA Awards last November.

“The Middle” is available to purchase or stream everywhere on online services now.
