Martina McBride: “We Have More Fans Than Ever In Country Music”

Parade magazine recently caught up with Martina McBride and chatted with her about her three daughters, their life on the road, her music, the current state of country music, and much more. Read below for a snippet of their interview…

Balancing home life and her busy career.
“If I had the secret to that I would be a very popular person. It’s just a balance. You have to take it day by day. I’m just like any other working mom; some days I’m really good at balancing it all and some days I’m not very good at it. I try to put my family first and just make good choices so that it is all in balance.”

Having her daughters with her on tour.
“They love it. They’ve been on the road since they were little kids so they’re used to it. It’s a great way to spend a lot of time together and see the country and do a lot of fun things. So they really enjoy it.”

Keeping a healthy lifestyle while on the road.
It’s just a day-to-day thing. I try to take care of myself the best way I can when I’m on tour. I try to eat really healthy and exercise when I can. Of course, my show is a workout in itself. I just try to make good choices.”

What’s in store for the country music industry.
“I think we have more fans than ever in country music. People are discovering it and loving what they hear. For me, country music crosses all kinds of boundaries and it’s just songs about real life.”

Having Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift name her as their inspiration.
“It’s really flattering. There are people that I looked up to and still look up to when I first got into this business and tried to model my career after, so to hear that from somebody that’s just starting is flattering and feels good, feels like I’ve done something right.”
