Matt McGinn Named SESAC’s 2020 Songwriter of the Year
Wyatt Durrette III also won for his five week No.1 with Luke Combs!
While the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic may have changed how songwriters get in a writer’s room together, it hasn’t stopped them from churning out amazing hits. These songs were celebrated during SESAC’s 2020 Nashville Music Awards on Wednesday night (11/4).
The publishing company’s top-performing country and Americana songs were honored during a virtual ceremony, where the winners were announced via SESAC’s website and social media accounts.
Songwriter Matt McGinn was named SESAC’s Songwriter of the Year, winning the honor once before in 2018. His biggest hits from this year include songs recorded by Kane Brown: “Homesick,” “Cool Again” “and “One Thing Right,” featuring Marshmello.
Wyatt Durrette III’s “Even Though I’m Leaving” was named SESAC Song of the Year. It was recorded by Luke Combs and spent five-weeks at Number One. He earned the honor last year with Combs’ “Beautiful Crazy.”
